My solution is: end of the year dorm donations
One thing I noticed at the end of every year is that there is always a big overflow of stuff coming out of the trash rooms/cans/dumps anywhere near the residence halls. And a lot of the things people are throwing away are items it looks like they can’t fit in their cars but have nothing else wrong with them.
Example: swifter mops, mirrors, microwaves, furniture, shelves, clothes, stuffed animals
The answer? Bring in a charity truck to pick up the useful items. As long as it comes with a cover you could have one or two of them for move out week placed on campus. Why? It would be a great contribution from the community, students can feel good about getting ride of the things they aren’t able to take back home, and because of the overflowing junk I image they have to bring in a regular dump drunk to take care of it, so they might as well bring in a truck that will take the items to a better cause.
